Rock Werchter in Belgium

Rock Werchter is a famous international rock music festival. It is held each year in Belgium in the village Werchter. This event started its history in 1974. It is considered to be one of the biggest annual rock music festivals in Europe. The festival even received the awards for the best festival in the world at the International Live Music Conference.

The festival began as one-day event. Later in 1996 it was held for days, in 2000 for three and in it became a 4-day festival in 2003 after it was sold by the owner to American organizers.

In last years such musicians as: Nine Inch Nails, Coldplay, the Cure, the Who, Metallica, R.E.M & Lou Reed, Iron Maiden,  Killers, Lostprophets, Lenny Kravitz, Placebo, Rammstein, Audioslave, Green Day,  Foo Fighters, Oasis, Keane, the Kooks, Muse, Franz Ferdinand and Nightwish  performed on the stage of this festival

It has been already announced that such famous musicians as Pearl Jam, Florence and the Machine and Red Hot Chili Peppers will be performing there this year.

The band will bring its new album “I’m with you”. The whole world has been looking forward to their new album which became number one in many countries. It was in the top ten best albums of 2011 according to Rolling Stones Poll. The style of the hot guys from California is a combination of alternative rock, funk and punk rock. Thanks to Antonie Kiedes, the singer of the bands they started to sound more mature after Californication as he reduced rapped verses in the songs.

Sooner we will find out more names of the artists to –perform on this stage. You may already buy the tickets for 2012 festival. The price for 4 day combi festival ticket is 195 euros; one-day ticket is 79.Visiting a music festival is one of the top 10 things to do in Belgium.
